Sem break review

Hello people out there!

It's been quite some time since I wrote a proper update. As 2015 is coming to an end soon along with my semester break, I want to do a little review of what has happened for me so far this semester break.

Semester break began when I finished my last exam paper on 4th Dec. I traveled to Garden By The Bay to view the Christmas Wonderland with my university friends. As that night is still a couple of weeks away from Christmas, I won't say the Christmas atmosphere there is at its absolute peak. Nevertheless, it was quite a relief for us to get out of our university and enjoyed the scenery and night view of Singapore.

I did not immediately go back to KL but stayed in Singapore for another week. The reason being I wanted to be able to do some planning for my ECA next semester and I felt it's best to do it in Singapore as I doubt I will be able to focus when I'm back home. I felt satisfied and more at ease that I managed to come out with a plan and timeline leading up to the event that my division will be organising. However, I would admit that I do not have the utmost confidence that everything will go according to plan. It will depend on my ability to lead and my mental and emotional strength to carry on when things are not smooth-sailing. At least I have a plan to fall back on and I started planning earlier rather than come out the idea as the semester goes along, and that would be very stressful as I have attested to it during the first semester. All these are part of the learning process and trying to make the most out of my university life.

Besides working on my ECA planning for next semester during my lengthened stay in Singapore, of course I did things that are befitting of holidays. One of it was taking advantage of the Internet speed in my hall of residence and watched movies online. The list of movies that I watched includes What If, Jurassic World, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, and The Theory Of Everything. I watched Jurassic World in one of the tutorial rooms in the new The Hive building in my university, which I never pay a visit to during the semester because I prefer to study and do things in my room. Also, I had supper with my university friends after watching Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter together
The Hive building aka the Dim Sum building as the NTU students like to call it.

Besides watching movie, I met some friends in Singapore. Jia Wei (Joanne), my XJ friend, came to visit Singapore and we had lunch at Orchard, talking about university life and reminisce about our XJ times. On the same day, I went to meet Wai Kei in her poly before she paid a visit to my university again and for this time, I gave her a rough complete tour of my university until she complained her legs are sore.

Fast forward a little, I was back in Kuala Lumpur. Managed to catch up with Kar Leong and Kanesh on 18th Dec as Kanesh was back in KL for a couple of days. Did the usual play-darts-and-supper session. The next day, I went back to the annual XJ trainee camp 回巢 session again to catch up with my XJ friends. This year's venue was the same as last year and is located near my area, which is of course ideal for me. I would say this year was the least exciting one for me because I did not manage to spend time with more people than I would like. Anyway, I stayed overnight at the campsite again but highly doubt I will do so again the following year. We will see.
With my fellow 24 XJ friends
With my xue jie, Kah Yan. She's the one that saved my XJ life by convinced me to stay back then.
This year 回巢 include a performance by violinist Josh Kua

The movie marathon did not stop even though I thought it will back in KL because of the slow Internet speed. Surprisingly, my home's Internet speed is fast enough to watch movie online. I guess perhaps my brother upgraded it. Anyway, I managed to watch the entire Twilight movie saga and also The Danish Girl and hopefully I will be able to catch a couple more movies in the remainder of this sem break before I go back to Singapore.

One more highlight of this sem break is that Kai Hoong invited me to his house for BBQ/steamboat dinner on Christmas Eve. Definitely enjoyed the food and alcohol as well as the gaming and chit chat session with those that were in attendance.
Well spent Christmas Eve night with these peeps

Overall, this sem break turned out to be less interesting/entertaining than the one I initially imagined. Very little basketball session because Jeff is not back in KL again. Not much catch up session with friends due to various reasons (busy, timing and etc). Done little in terms of watching videos about leadership to improve myself. One thing that is close to my initial expectation for this sem break is that I spent more nights at home accompanying my family (my mum, in particular). I hope my mum enjoys the nights I spent at home talking to her as much as I enjoy in taking the effort to be more by her side during the holidays.

That's all for this post. Anyway, rereading this post makes me feel this piece of update is not a good piece of writing. =.=" I'll just put the blame on this short and less-fulfilling holidays. But alas, at least I wrote something that I can read and reminisce in the future. lols

Signing off,
TC
